COURSE OF THE STUDY
GENERAL NURSING & MIDWIFERY
The school conducts the General nursing & midwifery course of three years’ duration under the Assam Nurses Midwives’& Health Visitors’ Council and Indian Nursing Council with an intake of .
Objectives of the course:
On completion of this course the students will be able to:

Demonstrate competency in providing health care to individual, sick or well, using nursing process.

Apply knowledge from the humanities, biological and behavioral sciences in functioning as a nurse.

Function effectively with members of the health team and community applying the knowledge of human relations and communication skills in her work.

Participate as member of the health team in delivery of curative preventive, promotive and rehabilitative health care service.

Mobilize community resources and their involvement in working with the communities.

Demonstrate use of ethical values in their personal and professional life.

Demonstrate interest in activities of professional organization.

Recognize the need for continuing education for professional development.

Demonstrate basic skills in teaching patients and giving nursing care to them.

Demonstrate basic skills in administration and leadership while working with other members of health team and community.

FACILITIES AVAILABLE

Clinical Exposures: The clinical experience is provided by the District hospital Dimapur, State Mental hospital, Kohima, Community health Center both Rural and Urban, and Community Practices through home visit.

Class rooms: adequate, spacious and well ventilated class rooms are available.

Library Services: Library rooms is equipped with latest edition books and journals. The students can avail the service anytime and during library hours and can burrow books through the rules of the library.

Demonstration rooms: The school has fully equipped demonstration rooms for Nursing Foundation, Community health, Paediatric and Midwifery where students practice and demonstrate various nursing skills. The Lab is equipped with mankins, birth demonstration models, instruments and equipments.

AV Aids Room: The room is equipped with Projector, charts, models and Human Dorso and chairs where classes can be conducted.
